Project Description

How does Geocell work on channel protection projects?

The Geocell channel protection system provides a wide variety of flexible protection treatments for open channels and hydraulic structures. The system provides stability and protection of channels exposed to erosive conditions ranging from low-to-high flows either intermittent or continuous.

Geocells can be used to protect channels from challenging erosion conditions or continuous flow. It confines the infill within the cellular structure and assures effective subgrade drainage and subsoil protection. It provides a stronger and more lasting strengthening and stabilizing effect for the load-bearing capacity or anti-erosion layer of the river bank. The system also enhances the performance of vegetation by reinforcing root zones and directing flows over the top cells, making them compatible with the local environment and ecology.

Why does Geocell work?

1, Greatly improves the hydraulic performance of conventional protection materials such as aggregate, rip-rap, and vegetation by confining them within the cellular structure.
2, Can be designed for specific site conditions based upon compatibility with local environmental, ecological, and aesthetic requirements, maximum anticipated flow, and associated hydraulic stresses.
3, Surface roughness and hydraulic efficiency of the lining system can be changed to control flow.
4, The green wall with vegetation on the outer rows for an aesthetic retention solution.
