Geocell for Protection of Geomembrane Liners
Exposed geomembrane liners are often threatened with damage from a number of operational and natural elements when left exposed. There are many methods to protect the liners ranging from temporary to more permanent long-term solutions.
The stability, ease of construction, and relative cost of such methods is an important consideration. HDPE Geocell offers benefits in these areas over more conventional approaches such as reinforced concrete slabs.
As a protective cover for geomembranes, Geocell system prevents liner damage and degradation. With infill confined in the Geocell system, slopes can be designed steeper while maintaining strength and integrity, even when subjected to settlement—common in landfills. The landfill cover system can be designed as a vegetated, aggregate-armored, or concrete solution that remains flexible. Geocell liner protection is a ‘complete solution’ including integral tendons and tendon load transfer clips.
