Geocell Selection Guide for Soil Stabilization
When you want to use Geocell on a soil stabilization project, what Geocell type(mainly Geocell height, welding distance, and seam peel strength) you should use? Maybe most of you have this same question. Today, let me tell you how to choose different suitable Geocells according to different project types.

Generally, subgrade strength, vehicle type, axle loadings, traffic patterns, type of infill material, and application(surface or base stabilization) are important factors when selecting the Geocell type.
If you have professional engineers to design the project, it is best, that they will calculate the exact Geocell type based on all your project information. But if you do not have, based on our experience, you also can check the below information for reference.
| Application | Cell Type (Welding Distance) |
Cell Depth | Other Materials |
| Light Applications Trails, Bike Lanes, ATV Trails & Foot/Horse Paths |
Excell356 or Excell445 | 7.5 cm or 10 cm | 200gsm nonwoven Geotextile |
| Non-Industrial Passenger Vehicles & Light Industrial | Excell356 or Excell445 | 7.5 cm or 10 cm | 200gsm nonwoven Geotextile |
| Industrial 18-Wheelers, Oil & Gas, Mining & Heavy Industrial |
Excell330 or Excell356 | 10 cm, 15 cm or 20 cm | 200gsm nonwoven Geotextile |
| Heavy Applications, Fire Trucks & H-20 Loading | Excell330 or Excell356 | 15 cm or 20 cm | 300gsm nonwoven Geotextile or Geogrids |
| Subbase Stabilization | Excell330, Excell356 or Excell445 | 15 cm or 20 cm | 300gsm nonwoven Geotextile or Geogrids |
